What you'll find in Dumas

We are home to the Desha County Museum, Miller's Mud Mill and famous Esau's Sweet Corn. Desha County is at the convergence of the White, Arkansas and Mississippi Rivers. Our Levee along the Mississippi River is the longest in the U.S. Great views of the river.

The great outdoors

Desha County is legendary for outdoor sports. We have excellent fishing on our many lakes, bayous, and the Arkansas River. Since we are in the middle of the Mississippi River Flyway, duck hunters love us. The section of the Arkansas River nearest us is the site of some of the best bass tournaments in the nation.

Cool main street

Our Dumas Main Street is listed as a commercial historic district by the National Register of Historic Places. Along Main you will find Meador's Drug Store with an old fashioned 1940s soda fountain. You’ll also find the Dumas Area Arts Center, home of community theatre productions and a popular annual Gospel fest.

Meet with us

Our fine 34,000 sq. ft Community Center is perfect for meetings, reunions, seminars and other gatherings. Nearby motels and restaurants offer good food and accommodations.

National Historic Site

Rohwer, just a short drive from Dumas is the site of a World War II Japanese relocation center. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a National Historic Landmark. There are several Indian burial mounds nearby.

We are agri

Here in the Delta, we are an agricultural community. Area farmers raise cotton, rice, soybeans, wheat, corn and other small grains. Dumas is also a center of aquaculture. Local fish farmers produce high-quality catfish. Because of nearby crops and fish production, argri-product processing is an important part of our economy.

Job providers

Dumas is home to some great employers: Ainsworth Pet Nutrition, Central Wire, USA Holland, Akin Healthcare - a Joerns Healthcare Company, Delta Supreme Catfish Processors, Delta Memorial Hospital, and the Dumas School District.

High-tech in the Delta

Delta Technology Education Center with partnerships with UAPB, Phillips Community College, SEARK, Pine Bluff and UAM School of Technology, McGehee and Arkansas Workforce Services provides home-town educational opportunities in contemporary technologies.

We are a progressive southern delta town.
